David C. Barnette
David C. Barnette was born in Indiana, but descended from a Southern family that included P.T. Barnum's "Kentucky Giant," and two grandparents who built a special room dedicated solely to the wrapping of Christmas presents. Upon moving to coastal Alabama, he was immediately labeled a Yankee and has been working to earn Southerner status since.
THE OFFICIAL GUIDE TO CHRISTMAS IN THE SOUTH was first published in 2004 by MDi Publishing, where Barnette works as the Creative Director. His wit and wisdom found its way to the “stocking” of HarperCollins’ Christmas in the South celebrant Mike Morris, who placed the book on the Polar Express to his Yankee colleagues at Harper, who promptly fell in love with it and decided to launch this new edition. Barnette lives and writes in Fairhope, Alabama with his wife Ashley, and daughters Cailey and Sibley.
